Syllabus/Course Structure and Assessment

P900 - Maintenance and testing of control measures for domestic hot and cold water systems is there to provide the basis of competence of operatives undertaking the operation and monitoring of domestic hot and cold water systems in buildings.

The objective is to enable the candidates to identify the risks posed by legionella bacteria and understand how to manage the risks in domestic water systems, to a standard which minimises the risk of exposure and ill health.

How is the course assessed?

This is a multiple choice examination comprising 20 questions to be answered in 60 minutes. It is necessary to obtain 75% to pass the written examination.

Online specifics

The tutor will send an invite to the delegate, via Microsoft Teams or Webex, 1 week before the course and BOHS will send an email to the delegate with exam access via the Eva exam system.

A webcam, microphone, study area free of distractions and a good internet bandwidth connection are required for online training.

Who is this course suitable for?

  • Persons training to become a water system operative or technician.
  • Someone who requires a foundation level of understanding in order to take a Level 4 Proficiency qualification (e.g. P901).

CHANGES TO BOHS EXAM REGISTRATION

BOHS have informed us of a change to delegate registration. They are now rolling out direct candidate registration. This removes the requirement for Candidate Information Forms to be completed. Candidates are asked to set up an account with BOHS and can then manage their personal data, in line with UK legal requirements.

To sit the exam, candidates must register with BOHS via a link to obtain a student ID. This Student ID is required for the exam. Failure to do this will mean the exam cannot be taken.

AEC will send this link as well as instructions direct to you for all candidates wishing to sit the exam 10 days before the course start date.

All classroom courses will now have a remote exam set up by BOHS. You will need to bring a tablet or laptop with you to complete the exam.
